Who are We?
We are a group of students who are politically active and come from relatively different backgrounds who got fed up with the silence and apathy amongst the general populace regarding things that greatly affect people’s lives. A state of affairs we would very much like changed.
What Do We Aim to Do?
We aim to provide a more human and ground level perspective to the countless pieces of news that we are exposed to. An action that we hope will lead to our audience question preexisting beliefs and notions about the political, social and economic environment of the country. With speakeasy, we're here to say what we think is the right thing to say for us. We also hope to make this project a platform for discourse, a platform where the voices of those who matter are not stifled.

How We Aim to Do It:
You can expect regular content from us in the form of written as well as audio material. Extensive articles pertaining to legal analysis as well as the applications of those laws, pieces that work towards telling the story of people and communities whose stories find no place in media or books, art pieces that work to highlight aspects and nuances of life that perhaps many don’t see as well as other types of writings will be available on our website and on our Instagram and Twitter Pages.
Our audio material on the other hand will bring a greater level of pathos to our content. It will be used by us to discuss topics that perhaps the written word cannot do justice. We will also bring on guests to gain their insight in relation to the topics we will discuss.
Disclaimer: We are not journalists. All of our content is subjective and based on the dozens of hours we spend researching, discussing, writing, editing and scrutineering. That being said, we CAN be wrong about certain points. So, please do not consume our content with the belief that it is the absolute truth. Question things and learn, a practice we want to make commonplace.
Why We Are Doing This:
We, as individuals will have to face the consequences of the decisions of our predecessors and have opinions regarding those decisions and the path ahead. Opinions that we want to voice. Voices that we want to become a part of the discourse relating to life and policy. Project Speakeasy serves as an outlet for those voices and provides us with an opportunity to hopefully become a part of the public discourse.
